Service Technician Electrician

Description
The Service Technician is primarily responsible for service calls and regular maintenance of commercial, industrial, and residential facilities throughout the island of Maui. The incumbent will work independently and will develop relationships with businesses, property management clients, hotels, and property owners to expand the client base and drive the workload. The Technician will also ensure that all work installed is completed in accordance with the standards set forth by ELCCO—all work will be completed on budget, on time, and in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Generates high quality work in accordance with the values and purpose of ELCCO Inc.
  • Conducts quality control inspections on project sites.
  • Responds to customer service calls (emergency, on-site, or on-line)
  • Troubleshooting electrical components including but not limited to: wiring diagrams, transformers, motors, panels, and circuits
  • Installing power supply wiring and conduit such as: EMT, O-CAL, Rigid conduit, MC cable, strut, cable trays
  • Connect wiring in electrical circuits ensuring compatibility of components
  • Inspecting systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • Installing electrical apparatus, fixtures, and equipment
  • Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, circuit breaker panels etc.)
  • Identifies additional chargeable opportunities including time and material work, system upgrades and service contract expansion
  • Prices, proposes, and proceeds with new work as per issued guidelines
  • Completes service repairs, replacements, upgrades, adjustments and calibration on automation systems and components following issued tasking, maintenance, troubleshooting and installation instructions.
  • Performs system checkout and assists in automation systems startups for service installed jobs.
  • May coordinate electrical installation with electrical contractor at job sites as required.
  • Completes and submits written service orders and reports covering all aspects of each assignment and activity.
  • Completes and submits timesheets and other necessary information daily.
  • If improper operation is due to another system or component, discusses problem with customer and/or office and advises of the best course of action.
  • Works with other branch, company or external service providers or vendors including Information Systems professionals to arrange servicing and to resolve problems.
  • Participates in job site final walk and / or final completion for systems to service turnover on assigned jobs.
  • Conducts training and development classes for customers onsite or at the branch.
  • Delivers technical support, coaching and direction to end users and field labor when applicable.

  • Possession of a valid and appropriate driver license.
  • Must possess a valid electrical maintenance (electrical journeyman’s preferred) license, preferably in the state of Hawaii (or willingness to obtain)
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform skilled electrical work.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions, read and write at a level sufficient to fulfill the duties to be performed for the position described.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, plans and specifications.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to operate and use the tools and equipment commonly employed in the electrical trades.
  • Ability to function as a Lead Person, give guidance, and convey instructions to Maintenance and Operations staff.
  • Knowledge of leadership principles and practices.
  • Ability to work with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
